DEUTSCH, AN ETS Authorised TOEFL iBT Centre, was established in 1995 as a School of Foreign Languages by two language teachers - Piotr Kurnicki, PhD and Marek Przybyła, MA. Currently, over 3000 students attend our language courses every year. Since its founding, DEUTSCH has been constantly striving to become a cross-cultural research institution. Nowadays, DEUTSCH perfectly combines both scientific and educational activities and has become one of the key players in these fields on the Polish market.
The main fields of our activities are:
Foreign language training at one of our 4 schools: Kraków, Gliwice, Chorzów and Zabrze and foreign language training for corporate clients throughout Poland.
Our approach to language teaching is a communicative one. It emphasizes interaction as both the means and the ultimate goal of learning a language. We would like our students to be able to make use of their knowledge of a language in everyday situations - to book a hotel room, buy a train ticket etc.Research and development on language and culture DEUTSCH
deals with cross-cultural research work mainly in the field of cultural adaptation. We offer RTD services for companies aiming at homogenisation of their own transnational organisational culture. We also provide scientific support in the linguistic area, where the main stress is put on advanced technological solutions in the area of translation, improving and testing language skills and remote education. Our research is focused on the cross-cultural development and implementation of innovative scientific methods of language/cultural education and training of employees in need of acquiring specific cultural or linguistic abilities. It is reflected by the fact that since 2004, DEUTSCH has coordinated 9 domestic EU projects (with several thousand participants).Cultural and linguistic adaptation workshops for foreigners
We invite foreigners, coming to live and/or work in Poland, to acquire Polish language skills, to feel free within and understand better Polish national culture after attending one of these workshops, as well as learning about everyday life in Poland, its unique culture and history. They will also learn how to cooperate with Poles and understand their specific cultural patterns. Language courses via new media for foreigners across the world
English, German, Polish or Russian language training with a professional language tutor via Skype or other video-conference applications. Students do not have to leave their home or office to attend. It is a practical solution for those who do not want to waste their time being stuck in traffic jams or for those who cannot find a good teacher in their area.TOEFL and TOEIC examinations at our ETS authorised TOEFL and TOEIC testing centres in Kraków and Zabrze.
TOEFL (The Test of English as a Foreign Language), evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting. It is an admission requirement for non-native English speakers at more than 6,500 English-speaking colleges, universities and research institutions world-wide. It is designed for people wanting to study at English-language universities and to certify their language skills. TOEFL is carried out on-screen using sophisticated IT tools; this examination, like all ETS products, enjoys the position of being the ultimate tool to measure the English language skills used in the academic and research environment. We organise our TOEFL sessions not only for students from Poland but for visiting candidates from abroad. They often combine the TOEFL session with sightseeing in Cracow, the breathtaking old polish capital. TOEIC (The Test of English for International Communication) measures the ability of non-native English-speaking examinees to use English in everyday workplace activities. We offer this examination for individuals willing to improve their career chances within multinational business. We offer regular TOEIC sessions to employees of various companies, which is regarded year by year as a must by most multinational organisations for their non-English speaking staff.
